Paris essentials
For your convenience, an English-speaking driver will await you on your arrival at the airport to take you to your hotel. After a few moments of rest and a good shower, we will bring you for a half-day visit through the capital to allow you to discover the principal monuments. If you wish a more specific visit, a guide will accompany you and, for a few hours, transport you through the centuries for a short but enthralling initiation to French history. You could take advantage of our cars to visit Normandy, discover Honfleur and Deauville or visit the landing beaches. If the duration of your stay allows it, you could spend a day in Brittany and to visit the Mont Saint Michel. If you like wine and champagne we can show you the Champagne and Burgundy regions, the Loire Valley …

METRO

The Paris metro is fast and efficient, though it can involve a lot of walking and climbing stairs. Paris is crossed by 14 metro lines. There are five RER (express suburban) lines.
Each trip on the metro requires only one ticket no matter how many changes, though you must buy an extra ticket for the RER if you leave the city limits. Keep your ticket until you exit metro.
The first metro leaves at 5.30 am and the last train leaves the terminal at 12.30.
One ticket costs 1,30 € and a book of 10 9.60 €.
The same tickets are used on the metro and on the bus.
They can be purchased at metro stations and in some tobacconists (look for the "tabac" sign).
Special rates are applicable on the RER; the tickets prices are therefore different after zone 2.

TAXIS

It can be difficult to find a cab in Paris, especially on weekend nights. Hail one when the white light on top written "taxi" is on. Taxis line up at stands near intersections and metro stations. Your hotel doorman can also hail one. If you're out at peak hours, it is prudent to order a cab by phone. The meter starts at 1.98 € - 2.29 €, more if you call in advance. Fares are more expensive at night. It's not obligatory to tip, but many people leave about 10% of the meter price. Note the drivers often refuse to take more than 3 passengers at a time. Passengers are rarely allowed to sit in the front passenger seat. Drivers can charge a supplement for baggage, a fourth passenger, or an animal. A receipt (reçu) is provided upon request. When at the airport, be sure to take a taxi with a meter, for there are also more expensive chauffeur-driven cars.

BUSES

If you can't make out which line goes where, don't worry - most Parisians can't either. Route maps are available in metro stations and at the Tourist office, 127, avenue des Champs Elysées,8th. Buses run from about 7a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Use the same tickets as for the metro and one per ride. You must punch it in the machine as you get on.

BATOBUS
